Audit session and presentation
HEP would like to share the following message following the ‘Clean Air for Schools School Audits’ session that took place last week.
Thanks so much to colleagues who attended the audits session with Chris Cockburn. We hope it gave you a good overview of what we’re planning for and gave you the opportunity to ask any questions.
Here are a few quick key points:
- Our goal is to audit every school. The Clean Air for Schools programme will run for at least the next 18 months and there is funding for every school in the borough
- Audits will be totally free for schools, arranged and conducted by council staff
- We aim to conduct the first audits in the new year, with a view to making our first recommendations in the spring
- Funding of £5,000-£10,000 will be available to all schools participating in the audit programme, to aid the delivery of pollution mitigation recommendations
- Additional support will be available by way of classroom sessions on pollution, idling, active travel, etc
Interested schools should contact the team, who will be in touch to arrange a visit:
chris.cockburn@hounslow.gov.uk
environmental.strategy@hounslow.gov.uk
Audits will consist of a visit to the school site by members of council staff, best if accompanied by a staff member who knows the location well.
