Hounslow's Promise
Hounslow’s Promise is a charity founded on the belief that all children are capable of learning and thriving and the whole community shares a responsibility to help young people succeed. The borough-wide initiative was set up in 2017 by the Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston, Seema Malhotra MP, alongside Member of Parliament for Brentford and Isleworth, Ruth Cadbury MP. The initiative has been developed in partnership with Cranford Community College with input from schools, businesses, councillors, members of Hounslow Youth Council and community organisations.
Based on five promises, it seeks to improve educational attainment, employability, leadership and social mobility of our young people. It believes that in building social capital around our education system, we can help grow and share prosperity. It says all children are capable of learning and thriving and that every individual, organisation and sector shares a responsibility to help young people succeed.
It sends a simple message of aspiration - that every young person is valued, all young people should be supported to accomplish their goals and no young person should be left behind. We all have a part to play in the success of the next generation. It literally takes a village to raise a child.
Hounslow’s Promise delivers vital support for young people and their community, including the ‘ConnectingKids@Home’ scheme, providing devices and connectivity for students in Hounslow who would otherwise be without, and a community mentoring programme.
