Get Hounslow Reading Update

Published: Friday, June 18th, 2021 at 5:17 PM

Introductory workshops completed with nearly 200 teachers across 40 primary schools –

HEP is delighted to update members on the Get Hounslow Reading project. The overwhelming enthusiasm, kind comments and useful feedback from participants has been greatly appreciated.

Working with author and education consultant Charlotte Raby, primary teachers and leaders have been introduced to the Reading for Pleasure and Contingent Talk programme which will continue in 2021/22.

During the workshops, teachers signed up to a range of websites which will be used during the coming year including https://justimaginestorycentre.co.uk/, who have selected the starter-packs of books coming to participating schools at the start of July.

Teachers were also introduced to, and started working on Padlet, a collaborative web platform in which users can upload, organise, and share content to virtual bulletin boards. We hope to give you more information about Padlet in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, the following links should give you an idea of what we’ve been up to.

This link takes you to the Get Hounslow Reading padlet which features the zoom recordings, presentations, schedule for 2021/22, and much, much more:

These links take you to a couple of the other padlets that teachers have worked on together:

Finally, we would like to remind EYs and Nursery Leaders who attended the Contingent Talk session to complete the registration for practitioners who will join the programme in September.

We ask that you do this by Friday 25th June please.
