Referrals and training offer –
HEP would like to share the following information and links with members:
Primary Pathways Family of Schools:
WPES are now accepting referrals for outreach support and Play Therapy and have additional capacity this term to support in schools. For schools who signed up before Easter 2021 for 2021-22, fees are reduced. Any school who is not a family member can spot purchase outreach and Play Therapy at full cost.
Family member schools – please never hesitate to get in touch with The Bridge should you need to discuss general behaviour issues or need to talk through a specific case you need advice on. This is completely free and available to all member schools. Together we can find a way forward through a problem.
The next Pathways Off-site Intervention Programme starts soon – if any member school wishes to discuss the possibility of getting a pupil onto this before it commences, please get in touch with Helen Tyzack as soon as possible. Any school who is not a family member can purchase off-site intervention at £195 per day.
Secondary Schools:
Gateway is open and able to take referrals for up to 12 weeks for respite and early intervention. Please try to give as much notice as possible when sending in a referral – Corinne Logan is the contact for this. Gateway can be used creatively to support schools with complex situations; for example – a pupil can attend Gateway for specific days in a week over a period of time to break the mainstream week up for them. (Gateway Mon, Weds, Fri – mainstream Tues, Thurs).
Gateway PLUS is also accessible for Years 7-11. This is a minimum of 4 weeks and can be used for a whole school year. This package sees a pupil attend one of our main sites as any other pupil, going into classes, accessing all intervention staff and resources. The pupil is dual registered with WPES and the mainstream school. This intervention is effective as a last attempt by a school to prevent a permanent exclusion. Again, we can support a school by using Gateway PLUS creatively with a pupil attending one of sites for specific days, and attending their mainstream school for the other days. This helps break the week up. Gateway PLUS referrals should go to Ian Berryman.
Should schools simply need to discuss behaviour concerns or a specific situation with a pupil, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Ian Berryman who will be more than happy to listen and advise on options.
Training Offer for school staff:
From 20th September, WPES is able to welcome colleagues from other schools into centres for a day to observe and learn from experienced professionals who support vulnerable, often aggressive and challenging children and young people every day. The best CPD is being present in a context and being able to have a professional discussion about the techniques being deployed and how they can be applied elsewhere. This offer is free to Primary Pathways Family Members and comes with a small cost for all other schools. Please contact Milli Cowling if a school is interested in any staff member taking up this offer: ucowling2.313@lgflmail.org
