The session will focus on exploring the various ten subject leader resource files provided by HEP to subject leaders during the autumn term and how they provide support to subject leaders through: \n\nKey resources and professional associations to support a subject leader\nHow well subject leaders (and teachers/assistants) understand the key aims and principles of the national curriculum subjects\nWhat ‘good and better’ teaching & learning look like in all national curriculum subjects\nEnsuring accurate assessments are made of pupils learning across all subjects – exploring exemplar models of progression\nThe role of the subject leader in a ‘deep-dive’ inspection/what questions they will be asked/how to write a rigorous and robust subject self-evaluation report.

DESCRIPTION:In these three sessions you will cover: \n\nOfsted and the role of the subject leader in preparing for a subject specific deep-dive\nHow to present a coherent message about the subject you lead - ‘what will I be asked?’\nWriting a rigorous and robust subject self-evaluation report\n\nIn addition to covering the topics identified above\, participants will be expected to undertake a short written activity between sessions 1 and 2 and again between sessions 2 and 3. Participants will then be offered the opportunity to receive on-line support on their (draft/completed) subject self-evaluation report.

DESCRIPTION:This funded training will look at Domestic Abuse theory and specifically how children are affected. Focus will be given to behavioural\, emotional and cognitive effects on children\, as well as the impact on parenting for both the abusive and the non-abusive parent. \nYou will: \n\nExpand on existing knowledge of and experience in domestic violence work\nExplore examples of good practice and projects\nLearn about the impacts / indicators of domestic abuse on children\nLearn about how to respond to disclosures from parents and children\nLearn how schools can engage safely with parents\nLearn how to undertake safety planning and risk assessment with children\nBuild confidence in challenging myths and stereotypes.\n\nThe course will be facilitated by AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) over two twilight sessions taking place in the Spring term.  The training is offered free of charge to schools and numbers are limited. Please make sure you are able to attend both sessions of the training on consecutive weeks.
