Education Performance & Data Team publish Back on Track profile –
This is an update for all Primary Schools on the joint Hounslow Education Partnership and Local Authority research project into the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on educational outcomes in Hounslow, known as Back on Track.
We collected data from 19 primary schools with a total of 5,539 pupils in Years 2 to 6. The data provided included pupil details and teacher assessments of whether the pupil was at, below or above the expected standard at the start of the 2020/21 school year. We have attached for your information an analysis of all of this assessment data, as we wanted all Hounslow primary schools to see the magnitude of the challenge we could be facing. While we cannot assume that the baseline profile from 19 schools will give an entirely accurate estimate of where pupils are at across the whole primary phase, it is still a large enough sample to provide a good idea of the size of the challenge faced by Hounslow primary schools as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
If any schools not in the project would like to join it, please contact Cormac Bourne at the HEP or Sean Hayes at the LA.

For the 19 schools already in the project, the Education Performance team will be contacting you soon to collect the children’s end of year assessments so that we can measure their progress across the school year 2020/21. This data will be analysed and reported back to primary schools in the Autumn term and should enable us to evaluate if primary school children are starting to bounce back. The contextual analysis will enable us to assess whether the vulnerable and disadvantaged children are also catching up or are continuing to be more adversely impacted by the pandemic.
